Well I’ve been a busy bee as of late! I truly didn’t think when I started up this little shop that I’d be doing so much so soon, and I am so excited about how things are going!! I’ve already sold a number of beautiful pieces, and I’m now currently working on some custom orders which is REALLY fun!
Firstly, a request for a vanity to go in a walk-in closet. Wanting to move her “primping” out of the master bathroom, my client has a lovely and large closet, and she thought the addition of a vanity table with some storage would be ideal. I started looking, and found a fabulous, 70 year old gem that just needs to be restored and freshened up!
It’s almost done, and I can’t wait to share the “after” with you!
Then I had a VERY pregnant mama get in touch me, looking for one last thing to go in her baby girl’s nursery. It’s all ready to go, just missing a little bit of function combined with some sparkle in the form of a night stand. This might not look like much right now, but when I saw this piece I knew I could make it shine!
Some sanding, a fresh coat of paint and some sparkly drawer pulls are going to add just the right amount of “princess” to this little one’s room. Since mama is due this week, I’m working furiously to get it all done so that baby can come home to a completed and perfect space!
If you have a minute, come visit me on my Facebook page, (or go to www.therefreshednest.com) that’s where I’m posting most often and where you can see all the photos of what’s happening in the shop! (AKA, my garage and driveway.. FOR NOW!)
I hope you’ll pop over and “LIKE” the page so that I can keep you posted.
Have a wonderful weekend, and thanks for reading about The Refreshed Nest!
Well that was certainly an exciting 24 hours!
I’m so happy to be starting such a fun adventure – I can’t wait to begin some new projects and experiment even more with colour and style. It seems pretty fitting that right now I’m working on my favourite pieces so far; an antique, five legged dining table and eight matching chairs – perfect for a (Canadian) Thanksgiving FEAST!
The table seats four, but has two additional leaves to accommodate up to eight guests, and the detail is just gorgeous…
The chairs have a lovely flower detail on each back, and one of them is a captain’s chair with arms. They need to be recovered and either stained or painted (I haven’t decided which), and choosing fabric will be SO much fun!
This set was originally purchased at one of my favourite places – the Aberfoyle Antique Market, which is just outside of Guelph, ON. I discovered it just this summer, when I had an afternoon to myself and decided to wander through and see what all the buzz was about. Let me tell you – this place is AMAZING! Stall after stall, all I saw was beautiful décor and furniture just waiting for some love and a good home. I had the foresight to take my van – and good thing I did! I came home with a whole bunch of fabulousness, and I can’t think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
So this is how I will be spending at least part of my weekend… I hope everyone up here in Canada has a wonderful and happy Thanksgiving! And hey – if you just can’t get enough of me, be sure to like my Facebook page too!
Welcome to my little nest!
If you’ve wandered over from my other blog Hysterically Ever After, thanks for joining me on my latest adventure! To my new readers, I hope you’ll enjoy following along as I pursue my passion for finding fabulous vintage and antique items and bringing them back to life!
My name is Mary Beth, and among other things I am a wife, home maker, mother of three, and lover of all things vintage!
This blog will offer a variety of things… mainly an opportunity to watch these beautiful pieces evolve, and also the chance to purchase them once they’re done! This is something I’ve been building towards for some time, and I’m thrilled to now say that The Refreshed Nest is officially open for business. I love nothing more than to spend my (rare) free time sourcing out amazing but neglected items, and finding creative ways to refresh them.
Have an old piece of furniture that’s seen better days but you can’t bear to part with it? Bring it on over and I will turn it into the star of your home. Using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, and through a variety of styles, washes and distressing techniques I can recreate, refinish and REVIVE your previously loved pieces.
